Our Common Grounds

Advertising network

Advertising that funds the places it comes from.

Scarce, targeted sponsorship on Tile It Forward and on the local pages of Care Share Do, Climateers and Cagora. Targeted by place and by cause or interest, never by following people around the web. Half of every sale goes to good causes.

Opening dates

Advertising opens on 1 December, first come, first served.

Our three-week early mover campaign runs from 1 to 22 December 2026 on Tile It Forward and on the Care Share Do, Climateers and Cagora sites. Advertising reopens in February 2027, once we have built further momentum.

Joining is free and never closes. The earlier you join, the earlier your access to the 1 December and February openings.

How it is different

Most online advertising is paid for with your attention and your data, and the money leaves your community. Ours works the other way round.

Relevant by design

An ad appears on the page for one place and one cause or interest, such as Food Waste Victoria or Gardening Canada. People see it because they chose that page, not because we profiled them.

Scarce on purpose

One sponsor per postcode on Tile It Forward, and three sponsors per local page. No pop-ups, no feeds, no auctions and nothing chasing you from site to site.

Local allies, not noise

Every sponsor is checked before they can buy, so a page of sponsors reads like a short list of local allies. Across the network we don’t host gambling, tobacco, fossil fuel or adult content businesses.

Half to good causes

Half of the gross price of every ad goes into our charity pool, and members decide where the biggest share goes. We pay the tax and card fees out of our half.

Tile It Forward

A tile on the world map

Pay a tile forward for an organisation you believe in. Its logo sits on the map for the postcode, and a tile is an act of local philanthropy as much as an ad.

How local page sponsorship works

Nobody wants to be the first ad on an empty page, so the first sponsors get extra time.

Spot 1Live from the day it was bought
Spot 2Live from the day it was bought
Spot 3Open. When it sells, all three start their 12 months
  • Live straight awayYour tile goes up the day you buy it.
  • Your 12 months starts when the page is fullThe paid 12 months begins for all three sponsors on the day the third spot sells. Until then, every day is extra time.
  • First come, first placedThe first buyer takes the first spot, the second the next.
  • One page or manySponsor a single council area, several, or every page across a state, at US$25 a page.
  • Approved firstEvery sponsor is checked before they can buy (see how sponsors are approved).

Money can buy visibility. It can never buy votes.

Reward Points can’t be spent on advertising, and buying an ad earns no points and no votes. What advertising does is grow the pool members direct: every sponsor adds to the dollars members share out, so more sponsors means more say for the community.

How sponsors are approved: the AI council

Every sponsor and every organisation that can be paid forward is checked before money changes hands.

A council of seven leading AI models reviews each application against our published criteria. On Care Share Do and Climateers the question is whether the organisation is purpose-driven. On Cagora it is whether the business fits the network’s exclusions. Using several models, rather than one, means no single model’s blind spots decide the outcome.

Where the council is unsure or says no, a person reviews it, and you can ask for a second look. An organisation that isn’t judged purpose-driven can still list free on Cagora.

The criteria are published with the Tile It Forward rules, so anyone can see the test before they apply.

What sponsors can see

We publish the mix for every page: how many people in an area chose a cause or interest. That is real demand you can judge for yourself, and it is always a total, never a person.

Low cost, honest terms

US$25 is a small bet on a well-defined audience. We can’t promise sales, the same as any print ad, so the terms are shown in full before you buy. Your rights under consumer law still apply.

No data sold, ever

Sponsors never receive member details. Members are shown by postcode only, choose what is public, and can leave at any time.

When you can buy

1 to 22 December 2026First sales: Tile It Forward tiles from 7am Melbourne time on 1 December in hourly batches, plus local cause and interest pages. This round funds our first giving round.
February 2027Sales reopen, and half of every sale feeds the 2027 Giving Festivals.
1 January 2030Tile It Forward tiles run until this date.

Questions

Do you use my data to target ads?

No. Ads are placed by page, meaning by place and cause or interest. Nobody is profiled or followed across the web, and sponsors never receive member details.

What if the third spot on a page never sells?

Your tile stays live and your 12 months hasn’t started, so every day is extra time.

Can I pay for an ad with Reward Points?

No. That keeps the full charity share in every sale.

Does buying an ad give me more votes?

No. Voting Points come only from joining early, completing your profile and referring three people. Buying an ad grows the pool everyone votes on.

Who can advertise?

Organisations approved by our review, outside the network exclusions. On Tile It Forward you can also pay a tile forward for an organisation you believe in, as long as it has claimed its free listing.

Where can I see where the money went?

On our giving page. We publish the totals after every round, never individual votes.

Put your name where it matters.

Low cost, targeted, and half of it goes to good causes.
