Our Common Grounds

Giving

Half of our advertising revenue goes to good causes.

We're a for-profit company doing business for good. From 2027, half of our gross advertising revenue goes into a charity pool, and our members decide where the biggest share goes. We pay the tax and transaction fees out of our half.

From 2027

How the charity pool is shared

Common Ground Fund, decided by members' votes$6.25
Partner charities we choose and commit to$3.75
Wikimedia Foundation$2.50

Amounts show where the US$12.50 charity share of a US$25 ad goes.

Each year at the Giving Festival, members spread their Voting Points across the approved, member-nominated organisations and projects they want to back. Votes count in proportion to points. As more people join, everyone's share of the total gets a little smaller, so the community's voice grows with every new member.

Only eligible registered charities are listed for voting, so every dollar members direct goes to an organisation that can lawfully receive it.

Our first giving round

December 2026

Before member voting starts, our 2026 charity pool comes from two sales running from 1 to 22 December.

Sales pause after 22 December and reopen in February 2027. Everyone who joins by 31 December 2026 becomes a founding believer, locks in Platinum, and uses their Voting Points for the first time at the 2027 Giving Festival.

The yearly giving rhythm

16 Nov to 15 NovAdvertising sales build the next year's charity pool. For example, sales from 16 November 2027 to 15 November 2028 make up the 2028 pool. The 2027 pool runs from February to 15 November 2027.
15 NovemberThe pool closes and the list of approved, member-nominated organisations and projects is set.
Giving TuesdayThe two-week Giving Festival opens. Every member spreads their Voting Points across the approved organisations and projects, and those votes share out half the pool.
By 31 DecemberThe whole pool is paid out.

Our mission, and one experiment towards it

Our mission is a world where people, our businesses, communities and nature are all thriving as we enter the 2030s.

Our theory of change is that real connections between people, and the trust they build, can help set up a decade of abundance on solid common ground. This program is one experiment to test that, alongside the many others already under way.
